What we collect
If you call or text the shop, we receive the number you used and whatever you choose to say. If a form is shown on a page, the details you type, such as your name, phone number, and message, are sent to the shop so we can reply. We do not ask for payment card numbers on this website.
If you sell something at the counter, we ask for a government photo ID. Town of Oyster Bay rules for secondhand dealers, which this site already describes, call for an identity check, a record of the sale, and your signature. We keep that record for as long as those rules require.
If you arrive from an advertisement or another website, this site remembers that visit in your browser for the session, including the page you landed on and how you found us. That detail is added to a form message when a form is available, so we can see which visit it came from. It stays in the browser for that session. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website, such as which pages are viewed and how people found us. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives information such as your approximate location, device, and the pages you visit. It does not receive the details you type into a form. How we use it
We use what you send us to answer you, to look at an item you bring in, and to complete a purchase or sale you agree to at the counter. We use the in-person sale record because the town requires it. We do not sell personal information.
We may share information if a law, the town, or a court requires it. Card payments, if you pay by card at the counter, are taken in the shop. This website does not store card numbers. The site is hosted so people can read it. We do not add other marketing companies on this page beyond the map and the profile links already published on the site.
How long we keep it, and your choices
Messages are kept long enough to reply and to handle any follow-up about the same question. Sale records are kept for as long as the Town of Oyster Bay requires. We do not publish a fixed number of years here, because that period comes from those rules rather than from a choice we advertise.
You can call and ask what we have from a message you sent, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete a message we are not required to keep. If you live in California, you can make the same request. Asking will not change how we treat you at the counter.
We do not buy from minors. This website is written for adults.
